The Plan

When the Economy is working well for people it provides Comfort, Stability and Prosperity.

This month we found out that the UK is in recession.  In reality the UK has been in a silent depression ever since the 2008 financial crisis recording worse aggregate growth than after the Great depression (1929) and the Long depression (1873) before it.  UK growth has been: 2022 Q2 +0.1%, 2022 Q3 -0.1%, 2022 Q4 +0.1%, 2023 Q1 +0.2%, 2023 Q2 0%, 2023 Q3 -0.1%, 2023 Q4 -0.3.  This is a flat line.  In the hospital if called to a patient who had a flat line trace as the on-call medical physician I would try to bring the patient back from the dead.  With a flat line we use adrenaline, I provide our economy with an adrenaline shot.

Our Economy has been going badly for years now.  It is time we had a plan to reverse this pattern of poor performance because it is this that is making taxes higher to pay for our social comittments and reducing the quality of our public services.  If we expand the economy we will make the situation better for all, stopping the never ending tax rises and improving our public services.

"The Plan" to do this is as follows.  Aidan would build the North East Wind asset as described in the big idea.  This would need to a new manufacturing hub to provide this as there is NO onshore wind amnufacturing capacity in the UK at present.  There is off shore but this will not build the capacity that Aidan is proposing.  This industrial capacity would be best built at either the giga plant site in Blyth or the Hitachi Newtion Aycliffe site, or both.  There would be a new build housing estate at the Bylth site as a mayoralty developement area to provide warm, comfortable housing to the workers.

The income from the North East Wind Asset would be shared with the community investment trusts in the areas where they are built and used to build out North East infrastructure to promote economic growth.

The first piece of infrastructure to be built would be the Leamside Line - see the Leamside Line
