The Grey Horse pub in Consett has been announced as the pub of the year in the North East category in CAMRA’s nationwide search for the best pub in Britain. Dating back to 1848, the Grey Horse is the oldest pub in Consett and one of the oldest pubs in the North East. Ales on offer at the Grey Horse include Consett Red Dust, Consett Steel Town Bitter, and Consett Steelworkers Blonde. Since 2005 these and other award-winning beers have been brewed on-site at the Consett Ale Works brewery located at the back of the pub.
It has been announced that a new railcard which is available for sale from next week offering 50% off train fares for 16 and 17 year olds will now be able to be used on Grand Central services to and from Sunderland.
